Lugol's is the strongest source of free iodine and iodide available on the market today. Due to its high concentration, Lugol's provides an excellent source of iodine for all corals, marine fish and other reef invertebrates. Using Lugol's as a supplement will increase the vitality and polyp extension of corals. In addition, Lugol's will help corals maintain their natural color and will help protect them against bleaching. Using Lugol's as a dip is a very effective treatment for new corals being added to the aquarium, as well as for treating damaged coral specimens.

Directions:

Standard Method as a Supplement: Add 1 drop of Lugol's Iodine per week for every 25 gallons (94.7 liters) of aquarium water. For best results, spread dosage throughout the week.
Analytical Method as a Supplement: Test your aquarium's iodine level prior to use. Natural seawater has an iodine level of 0.03ppm (mg/L). One drop of Lugol's will increase your iodine level by 0.05 ppm (mg/L) for every 10 gallons (37.9 liters) of water. Once you know your desired increase of iodine, use the following formula to determine your dosage. Desired Increase x Gallons of Aquarium x 2 = Drops of Lugol's to dose.
As a Dip: Remove 1 gallon (3.79 liters) of saltwater from the aquarium, add 40 drops of Lugol's and mix gently. Submerse coral in the solution for 10-15 minutes, return coral to aquarium and discard water.

Important:

Lugol's is the strongest source of free iodine and iodide, please use caution not to overdose with this product. Be sure to dose in areas of high flow and avoid placing this product directly on or over corals. If using another iodine supplement, only use a half dosage of the other product and be sure not to dose both products on the same day.
